NEW TI AMO PRINT COLOURS

5 ways to add vintage style to your... bedroom

In a brand-new styling series, I wanted to share the key investment pieces for a range of rooms in your home - starting with the bedroom. Choosing vintage for those key 'foundation' pieces to your room design will add character, texture and drama to your space and hold their value for years to come.

Bedside cabinets

Bedroom sets were very much a thing in the 70s and 80s, now rarer to come by in good condition, matching bedside cabinets in a range of materials from lacquered wood to lucite and bamboo offer great storage and structure to your room. If you are dressing a smaller space, side tables are a great alternative in marble or rattan. Style up the tops with your favourite photos, candles and of course, a vintage lamp...

Table lamps

Vintage table lamps make perfect bedside lights - adding height to your layout and satisfying symmetry. We have a number of pairs of vintage table lamps - from hand-painted ceramics to marble. We either fully rewire or PAT-test all our lamps before sale to ensure safety, all you need to do is choose the shade! I personally love to choose something for the bedroom that is going to cast a gentle, low light for a restful atmosphere.

Pendants

If you are looking to create a central focal point, or have high-vaulted ceilings that you want to showcase - a vintage pendant light can create a real statement hung low over a bed. Opt for a murano glass chandelier for the softest pastel twinkle effect.

Rugs

Our rugs are exclusively designed by me for Anemone - not vintage but inspired by my childhood in Italy and vintage textile and design references. They are handmade to order, using 100% wool making them super-soft under foot when you step out of bed in the morning. We can make them to any size and they look great under a bed to create a 'zone' within the room.

Occasional chairs

Bedroom chairs don't just have to be for piles of laundry! A beautiful, cosseting statement chair is great in a window bay to curl up in to read, chat or linger.
