I love that this story of the most British of institutions comes with an Italian twist - being half Italian and half British is seems pretty apt!
I was approached this month by an Italian neon maker, with some of his original designs from the 1990s that he was looking to sell.
They had been made for Blackpool Fairground and when they were decommissioned they were offered back to him as the original designer.
Each piece was moulded in Italy, before being electrically fitted and installed for decades of seaside fun in Blackpool.
Designs include a love heart, palm, 'Mr Funshine' and trio of flying ducks. The Palm is incredible, standing at 1.8m and has been wired for indoor or outdoor use.
