Luigi Rocca ‘Valentina’

A striking large-scale portrait by Italian artist Luigi Rocca (b.1952), painted in Turin in 1990.

Titled Valentina, the work captures a mesmerising female face with a sharp black bob, exaggerated lashes and softly painted lilac-pink lips. Rocca’s almost cinematic composition and beautifully restrained palette give the painting the feel of a 1990s Italian fashion editorial — glamorous, graphic and incredibly seductive.

Executed in acrylic on canvas, the painting is signed LROCCA to the lower right. The reverse is additionally signed by the artist and inscribed “Torino 1990”, “Valentina”, “Acrylic on Canvas” together with the dimensions.

Rocca is an Italian painter known for his highly polished figurative and photorealist works. Born in 1952, he studied and worked in Turin before establishing an international following, with his paintings appearing in galleries and collections across Europe and the United States.
