POINTE MOHAIR LAMPSHADES - NEW IN

Rare 1970s Fossilised Wood Mosaic Dining Table

£6,150.00

Rare and extraordinary 1970s circular dining table featuring a substantial polished fossilised wood mosaic top. Formed from individual sections of ancient petrified timber, each piece displays completely unique natural mineralisation, creating an almost marble-like pattern in tones of black, blush, cream and earthy brown.

Fossilised wood is created over millions of years as the original organic material of buried timber is gradually replaced by minerals, preserving the structure and markings of the original wood in stone. The result is an incredibly tactile natural material, making this substantial 6cm-thick top as much a geological specimen as a piece of furniture.

Set upon an elegant scrolling metal base, the contrast between the monumental fossilised top and delicate curved framework makes this an exceptionally decorative and unusual piece.

Dimensions:
Diameter: 120cm
Height: 78cm
Top thickness: 6cm
